Veterinarian

My Vet prides itself on its reputation for building lasting relationships with our clients & patients through our commitment to customer service & prioritisation of patient care. We advocate for gold standard care and work closely with numerous specialists to provide the best outcome and treatment for our patients.

The hospital:
We have 2 locations and both vet hospital are purposed built, beautiful and modern. Our vet hospitals has all the goodies - IDEXX diagnostics (Catalyst, Lasercyte, Sedivue), DR digital X-Rays, dental xrays, IM3 dental machines, complete anaesthesia monitoring (including ECG + Capnograph).

The role:
We are looking for a full time (38hrs) OR a flexible part time small animal veterinarian who shares My Vet’s core values:

    We love what we do, and we show it! Our clients truly appreciate and value the role we play in their fur babies' lives. As a testament to this fact, it is a regular occurrence that our staff members attend patient’s birthday parties!

    Our clients share our vision of treating their fur babies as their children. We partner and educate our clients to advocate for gold standard care. At My Vet many of our clients have pet insurance.

We actively encourage and sponsor attending international conferences to broaden our knowledge. If it wasn’t for COVID, one of our vets would have attended the WSAVA Congress in Poland this year!

  • 4 day working week for full time applicants (we are quite flexible so alternatives can be negotiated)
  • Closed on Sundays, half day Saturdays on a rotating basis (1 in 3)
  • Absolutely no after-hours

  • Minimum 30-minute consult times, 45minutes for new client

Our ideal applicant would have 2+ years of clinical experience, however new/recent graduates will also be considered.

You will have opportunities to practice at both the new hospital and the current vet hospital located in Waterloo.

The team:
At My Vet we have a loyal team of experienced support staff. We truly value the importance of each support staff’s role in facilitating a smooth hospital operation.

All our caring nurses are fully qualified or in the process of completing their Certificate IV in Vet Nursing and highly competent in clinical skills such as blood draws, catheter placements, intubation. This allows our vets to really focus on their tasks at hand.

We also have a dedicated receptionist and interns which allow the nurses to truly focus on aiding our vets and treating our patients.

Junior Veterinary Nurse

We have a position available for a Junior Veterinary Nurse (those on working/student visas are welcome to apply). We are looking for bright and bubbly people to join our team. At My Vet, we are more than just a vet hospital - we have a very different work culture, and we are always striving to improve. We are looking for someone who is going to grow with us as a team.

Junior Vet Nurse would suit someone who is:

  • Enrolled in Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing
  • Animal handling experience or any experience in the animal industry is preferred
  • Enthusiastic and hard working with an excellent work attitude
  • Dedicated and committed to animal care and customer service
  • Reliable, honest and trustworthy
  • Able to work as part of a team and able to multitask and follow directions
  • Eager to learn

About the Role:

  • Provide effective support to veterinarians in all aspects of veterinary nursing, including animal handling, IV catheter placement, blood collection and anaesthetic monitoring (training will be provided
  • Always maintaining an excellent level of patient care and customer service by treating every patient as if they were your own!
  • Maintaining a high level of cleanliness and hygiene of equipment and all areas of the hospital
  • Assist with reception and administration tasks as required

Veterinary Nurse Internship

We have two vacant positions available for entry-level Vet Nurse Trainee Internship (those on working/student visas are welcome to apply). We are looking for bright and bubbly people to join our team. At My Vet, we are more than just a vet hospital - we have a very different work culture, and we are always striving to improve. We are looking for someone who is going to grow with us as a team.

Our vet nurse internship is a 6 months program which is very comprehensive and rewarding. At the end of the internship, you will be able to (but not limited to):

  • Confident in handling of animals
  • Set up surgery including packing surgical kits, set up IV fluids etc
  • Run bloods through Idexx machines
  • Administer injections – subcut, intra-muscular, intravenous
  • Calculate medication doses
  • Learn about common medications used
  • IV catheter placement
  • Perform simple nurse consults
  • Perform admissions and discharges for routine procedures
  • Sound understanding of routine vaccinations
  • Thorough understanding of all prescription diets
  • Monitor simple anaesthetic procedures

The Entry-level Trainee Internship would suit someone who is:
Enrolled in Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing
Animal handling experience or any experience in the animal industry is preferred
Enthusiastic and hard working with an excellent work attitude
Dedicated and committed to animal care and customer service
Reliable, honest and trustworthy

The ideal candidate for the internship must be available 2 days a week to start. At the end of the internship, excellent candidates will be offered a paid position to join our team.

Customer Happiness Representative

We are looking for bubbly and enthusiastic people to join our Customer Happiness Representative (CHR) team. The role can be a full time or part time position and the roster will be 4-5 days/week (38hours/week) for someone who is looking for a full time position. We are very flexible and are happy to work with you.

Our CHR absolutely love engaging with all our patients that walk through our door and strive to exceed our client’s expectations when it comes to customer service.

This position would suit someone who:

  • Loves animals!
  • Has strong time management skills and able to take direction
  • Friendly, polite, sociable
  • Is a team player but also the ability to work independently under pressure
  • Self-organised to achieve goals by working on their own
  • Empathetic to client and customer's needs - goes above and beyond to make customers happy

Duties will include (but not restricted to) the following:

  • Answer and attend to every call that enters the business and book appointments into our vet booking program.
  • Attend to all client and their queries in a timely manner - in person, on the phone and via email. Aim to service our clients and make them and their furbaby feel special and comfortable! Who doesn’t love feeling special?!
  • Processing payment including supporting vets to invoice clients if required
  • Ensuring the reception and consulting areas are kept at hospital cleanliness standards
  • Keeping our appointment system running smoothly

You will be trained on various pet care products and services so that you can help clients make appropriate decisions on their pet’s healthcare need. Previous experience in an animal industry is preferred but not required for the role.

This role also provides the opportunity for you to progress to a veterinary nurse/intern position.
