It is that time of year again! Here at My Vet Animal Hospital Waterloo we are looking forward to participating in the annual winter Sydney Homeless Connect event for our second year running! This event is held at Town Hall every year in order to support people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless to connect with service and care providers to help them move forward. The aim of this event is to not only raise awareness, but to improve the homeless person’s situation and ultimately find permanent accommodation for those in need. The event provides crisis care, financial and legal advice, employment information and housing assistance, as well as dental and medical attention, haircuts, massages and a hot meals! But who is there for there for the homeless pet population? Answer….as a community WE can be!
Over 10 bags of goodies donated!
Pet ownership is high amongst Sydney’s homeless population, with more than 28, 000 currently being homeless in NSW. We believe that pet ownership can enrich the lives of homeless people through countless emotional and physical benefits. On Thursday the 7th of July this year, we will be closing our clinic to volunteer at this year’s event. But here’s where we need your help…We have already received some very generous donations from many of you in our local community, but we always need more! We want to make this year bigger than ever, so here’s what we need most for donations this year:
-Pet winter jackets
We are in desperate need of the items starting most importantly at the top of the list! We will be closed on Thursday the 7th of July for the event, but will gladly be taking your much-needed donations until the 5th July 2016. If you would like more information on the event please come and have a chat with us here at My Vet Animal Hospital – Waterloo or visit this page for more details.
